NOTE: Preconference Workshops will not be recorded.

This workshop examines how law librarians and legal information professionals can discover and engage in the robust and varied world of legal scholarship from ideation to publication. Attendees will have an opportunity to identify different types of scholarship to pursue. Other topics that will be covered throughout the day include structure, formatting, how to conduct empirical research, setting timelines, and co-authoring. Attendees will hear from speakers on how to create a scholarship portfolio, manage time, and communicate with other stakeholders in the publication process. Attendees will gain exposure to various institutional challenges that are posed during the scholarship and publication process, and will explore best practices on how to navigate through those challenges.

Target Audience:

Librarians at all levels and all types of libraries who are interested in producing scholarship or must produce scholarship for tenure and promotion purposes.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will examine different scholarship opportunities available in legal, library, and other legal information publication spaces.
Participants will explore tips and techniques that will facilitate the scholarship creation, submission, and publication process.
Participants will have an opportunity to share and receive feedback with established authors and editors to demystify the publication process during breakout sessions.
