Associate Dean Amanda Runyon oversees the operations of the Biddle Law Library, including its world-class collection of legal information and its extensive services to the law school community.
She is a Lecturer in Law, and focuses her teaching on transactional legal research skills, technology, and ethics at the law school. She also teaches Leadership and Management in Law Libraries at the University of Washington’s Information School. Her research interests include assessment in legal education, empirical studies of law library collections, and leadership in law libraries.
Before joining Penn Carey Law, Amanda was the Head of Reference and Faculty Services at the University of Michigan Law School, and also worked at the Tarlton Law Library at the University of Texas. Before transitioning to law librarianship, she worked in the in-house legal department of the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.
Amanda holds her JD from the Ohio State Moritz College of Law, her Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington and her BBA from Eastern Michigan University.
Amanda engages heavily in external activities and has held numerous leadership roles in law librarianship professional organizations, including the Society of Academic Law Library Directors, the American Association of Law Libraries, and the NELLCO Law Library Consortium.
