In this highly interactive program, you’ll learn what you need to know about budgets—without the eye-glaze that (often!) comes from spreadsheets, fiscal responsibility, budgeting software…

Our four panelists have a wide range of experiences with budgets and — most importantly—they are excited about sharing their knowledge with you in a digestible, fun format. We promise you won’t be bored, and you will walk away with more knowledge about budgeting than when you started. Plus, no math skills required (or even needed!).

Target Audience:

Anyone who makes a request in a library for something that costs money, and anyone who receives requests in a library for something that costs money.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will describe, at a high level, the fundamentals of budgets within a library, including timelines, types of budgets, the collaborative nature of managing and handling budgets, and basic budget terms.
Participants will be able to explain how understanding budgets is important for all librarians in all roles and how that understanding can help anyone do their job better.
Participants will confidently return to their library with the knowledge to ask questions about their library’s budget and to improve any requests for things that cost money.
