Sarah is an attorney, librarian, and scholar who researches in the fields of law, law librarianship, communication, gender studies, and public policy. She has held leadership roles in academia and the nonprofit sector, including her current roles as Director of the Law Librarianship program and member of the executive committee of the Department of Information Science at the University of North Texas. From 2012-17, Sarah was a law librarian and lecturer in legal research at Yale Law School. She served as the inaugural Empirical Legal Research Librarian, Head of Empirical Legal Research Services, member of the law library’s strategic planning committee, and member of the Yale University Institutional Review Board. From 2017-19, Sarah was staff attorney at Connecticut Veterans Legal Center and clerk to Hon. Victor Bolden (D.Conn.).
Last year, Sarah won The Joseph L. Andrews Legal Literature Award and the ALL-SIS Digital Publications award for her open access textbook Empirical Legal Research Services. Sarah is currently researching the professional development interests of allied professionals in law libraries, how law libraries use artificial intelligence, and how rural public librarians secure health resources for their patrons. Sarah is also representing two clients, pro bono, in their discharge upgrade appeals to the Department of Defense. Sarah also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Library Resource Sharing. Sarah holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication from Ohio University, an M.L.S. from Texas Woman's University, and a J.D. from Quinnipiac University.
