Shari Berkowitz Duff

Shari Berkowitz Duff is a Research Librarian at Jones Day. She has over 20 years of extensive experience searching and working with state courts nationwide while researching expert witnesses and public records. Shari is a key point of contact for Library colleagues and legal teams working on high-profile litigation nationally to research and obtain materials in specific courts, and to coordinate complex research projects. She has also been an ongoing source of guidance and training for her firm's docket team over the past 7 years. Shari currently leads a library team project to put together an internal resource providing detailed information on access, costs, coverage, and availability for courts in all 50 states -- both within major vendor platforms and via court websites. In May 2023, she was a co-presenter for a Chicago Association of Law Libraries (CALL) Continuing Education Webinar “'State Dockets Research: Demystifying online research of the Chicagoland Trial Courts.”

Shari currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of RIPS-SIS. She was the recipient of the 2022 PLLIP-SIS Advocate of the Year Award and was awarded the 2023 Agnes and Harvey Reid Award for Outstanding Contribution to Law Librarianship by the Chicago Association of Law Libraries. Shari has also been involved in numerous Committees, Taskforces, and Juries, both in a Leadership role and as a Committee Member, in AALL, PLLIP-SIS, RIPS-SIS, and CALL. She has been a Speaker on numerous SIS Webinars and on a panel at the 2012 Annual Meeting, as well as on multiple internal firm presentations and trainings. Prior to her current position at Jones Day, Shari worked in a variety of Library settings, including University of Pennsylvania’s Van Pelt and Biddle Law Libraries, New Jersey State Library, Montgomery County (PA) Law Library, and then 13 years at Reed Smith. Shari earned a Bachelors of Arts in Social Sciences with a History Concentration from Hofstra University, and she earned her Masters in Library Science from Drexel University.
