Jessica Whytock is the Associate Dean of the Law Library, Research Professor of Law, at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Before joining Berkeley in July 2024, she was the Associate Dean of the Law Library and Strategic Planning and Research Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law. In administering the library, Jessica sets library priorities, creates budgets, understands and applies university policies and practices, monitors library trends, creates and updates library policies, engages in strategic planning, and ensures the library meets the research and resource needs of the entire law school community. She is a member of the law school’s Senior Administrative team, and as a faculty member, she teaches legal research. She has served on multiple law school committees, including chairing the admissions and building committees for many years. In her Strategic Planning role, Jessica helped determine which new projects and initiatives the law school should pursue, how to implement them, and the stakeholders involved. She successfully launched UCI’s Legal Professional Pathways program, which provided admitted students with summer jobs prior to starting law school. Before joining UCI in 2009, she was the Head of Research Services at the USC Gould School of Law Library. Jessica earned her BA, MLIS, and JD from Indiana University.
